Frank Proffitt

Frank Proffitt has been one of my folk music idols for as long as I can remember. This is the man that taught The Kingston Trio "The Ballad Of Tom Dooley", back in the fifties. Listening to Frank singing a-capello or accompanying himself on his home made fretless banjo will surely take you back to a time in the Blue Ridge Mountains before paved roads and shopping centers took over.
Frank was born and raised in the community of Reese, NC on the North Carolina /Tennessee border, the East side of the Blue Ridge Mountains very close to Boone, NC.
