Audio Restoration
Audio restoration is like cleaning and restoring an heirloom painting or treasured artifact.
Common types of defects found in audio recordings are scratches, crackles, hiss from old and worn vinyl records, pops, and power line hum.
Old tape recordings develop hum or hiss as the tape is pulled over the recorder heads so many times that the iron oxide coating loses integrity. Even when hiss becomes louder than the music or information, the right filter can sample and remove the noise, allowing the music or speech to be heard as clearly as when first recorded.
Proper pitch can be restored to old vinyl recordings that may have been recorded at non standard rpm speed. Additionally, pitch error from old tapes that have stretched through repeated plays can be corrected.
